2651 aborts ios load 1

Ok heres the details, this one is killing me. I have a 2651 router that i want to load 12.3(t3) ios. I am using xmodem because im in rommon mode and it goes all the way down on the install till the last moment. It says erasing flash, then errors"cannot erase flash", aborting.

I have assured that there is a .bin on the end of the file. the command for rommon>xmodem flash:---file--- and then send with the hyperterminal prog.

Am I doing something wrong? is there another method other then tftpdnld to do this? TIA

You followed the instructions on the following link? Remember that in rommon mode the commands listed are case sensative.

Also quit using hyperterminal...it is no good....I use a program called netterm but the common one mentioned in this forum is teraterm which is free.

Also have you opened the router and made sure the flash was properly seated? Sometimes removeing and re-seating it fixes the problem.

I am not getting any link light on the router and no ip address on "pumpkin" which im using for my tftp server. i have the addresses set on the router and the file name is correct but still no link, even though i changed the ip and subnet to match the one on the router. I am using FA 0/0 with a straight through cable to no avail. Thanks.

Router direct to PC will require a crossover cable.
