Hi

We are purchasing a Dell Server for our company, we currently have 18 users.

The server will run SBS 2003 Premium Edition, Running: SQL Server an approximately 500MB Database, Exchange, Filesharing, Intranet, Print Server & ISA Server.

It will also terminate up to 6 VPN tunnels.

We are expecting to take on 4 or so extra staff in the very near future.

This is the basic spec of the server will this be approprate and expandable for our needs.

My main concern is if RAID 5 is approprate, will the 10k disks be fine (rather than the 15k disks).

PowerEdge 2600
2 x 2.8GHz Xeon CPU
2 GB RAM
3 x 73GB 10k hard drives - RAID 5
PERC Di controller

Many thanks for your help

Looks good, make sure you get a split backplane (two channel)

i find it is better to run more than 4 drives for RAID 5, wouldn't hurt to have a hot spare stand by in case thing failed,

more into a 4600 or 6600 series poweredge, my personal choice is 6x36, 5 running RAID 5 and one hot spare

Thanks guys for all of your help.

I ordered it yesterday with the spec noted above.

Thanks again

B
