Figured I'd play around and maybe learn more about Cisco routers. I just took delivery of a "used 2507" from eBay. I am able to configure and bring up the Ethernet interface, but I am Not able to get the 16 port integrated hub to activate. I ran NO SHUT for all of the Hub ports, but nothing. A SHOW INT, indicates the eth0 is up, but all hub ports are down. I did a WRITE ERASE, and entered auto configuration mode, to let IOS walk through an auto set up. At the option to bring up all of the hub ports, it indicates it is doing so, but they are still down after auto setup is done. None of the hub leds light-up either. Any thoughts? Mucho thanks!!!

here is my version info if that helps

Yes, cable attached, I tried in all 16 ports...

using straight cat5? the light should only light up when there is a actual connection.

can you do a show interfaces ???

what do you see then?

As i recall i don't think you can even see them. there is no point.. u cannot change speed/duplex or give them an ip address.

plug a pc in to a port.. give the ethernet0 an ip address on same subnet as pc and try pinging...

Never under estimate the power of layer 1... or the dope hooking things up. I made some new cables, and things work fine now. All of the (config-hub) options and Show Hub displays now make sense. Thanks for taking the time to read and/or answer!!!
