2112 set?

What activates the speaker on a 2112 set, does it need power? I assume handsfree is not a programmable option although the speaker doesn't work when the set is on hook.

it is a long time ago, as far as i remember, 2112 does not have handsfree the same set which is called 2312, does have handsfree and will need power. Very old stuff!!!!!!!

I beleive you need power. It should be a little black power box with screw down terminals. Use cross connect from screw downs to back of jack I think third pair.

correct on the power, and with power and hfa in the class it will hands free, you must be working at a museum, that's an old phone.

oh come on, it's not that old

I can't put HFA in CLS, I get sch0345: class of service not allowed.

On the 2112 set when I press the 00 key with the handset on-hook, I get an indicator that it is off hook and also the handsfree indicator illuminates but the speaker doesn't work.

do you have a power supply plugged in?.. if the speaker don't work even for out dialing then the phone or the ps are bad. you get dt on a station even with hfd. i didn't remember if hfa was programable, so the power supply supply should give you mech. speaker phone. same as a analog speaker phone, more of a function of the set as opposed to the software. i went to school the 1st time when rls 4 was new, 2112's were on the drawing board and my kids didn't have grandchildren... i'm old, the phones a little newer
