Tried to begin our Exchange 2003 upgrade yesterday by starting with our front-end server which currently runs Win2K SP3/E2K SP#3. I ran Forestprep and Domainprep from my front-end server without any problems. However, when I try to run Setup (the upgrade option is the only choice I get of course) it gives me the following error:

The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Upgrade" because:
-Setup is unable to determine the DNS name of the computer. See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 817543 for information on how to correct this problem. Then run Setup again.

The only problem with this is that Q817543 doesn't seem to exist! This box has been our front-end server for over a year and a half now without any problems.

Can anyone help? Thanks

FYI, I just called Microsoft regarding the "missing" KB article and they didn't charge me for the support call. Basically, that article (Q817543) is an internal Microsoft article not published to us outsiders. Right now, all the article says is that this is a known problem and refers them to Q240942. After following this, and changing the appropriate permissions I was able to complete my upgrade....
