I'm just checking to see if I have all my ducks in row. I will be doing a exchange 2003 to 2003 on a new server. Not a lot out there about that but do I just make sure I follow KB822931? I have public folders replicating between the two 2003 servers. Do I need to use pfmigrate as well or can I just replicate them, turn off replication? Than is there a specific place to rehome the public folders to the new server?

thanks!

just throw in ex2003 into the same ex2003 org and move the mailboxs and repl all public folder, calendar, schedule+freebusy stuff, and u r done.

thanks for the reply! After they are replicated no homing is required? Once the server is shut down it will use the new server? I tested using some OWA access to the new server and one mailbox I moved over, the mail was fine but when I connected to the public folder it showed it was going to the old server and not new? Is this because the old server is still a master?

One more thing... do I need to set replication in both Exchange system managers on each server to replicate? Or if I do it on one will it work.

I checked out replication and it says local modified on the new server than I checked out and it doesn't have any of the files\sizes as the old server. It's acting like it's not replicating.

Well for some reason the public folders would not sync with the new server. Thought I would reply in case others have this issue. To solve the problem, I first made sure a mailbox could communicate with the old and new server back and forth.Once I found out that the servers couldn't communicate I checked several routing settings and found that a smarthost (former spam server) ip address was in the old server. Than I removed it and was able to get communication between the two servers. I than made sure the sync on the public folders was setup on a custom schedual, 15 mins, and than urgent priority. I stopped the public folder store on the old server than I started it. The folders started to sync data.
