2003 server

Hello,

I am developing an application that runs on IIS. The problem is its outgrown XP Pro IIS so I want to install windows server 2003. The question is, I'm going to install it on the same box as xp pro, choose the operating system that I want it to boot to. Will windows 2003 server act much like XP? Can I run programs and applications just as if it were a regular PC?

Im running IIS on an xp pro machine now so if I install windows 2003 server, and boot to it will my programs ans services still run as normal on the 2003 server?

What exactly do you mean that it has "outgrown XP Pro IIS"? You shouldn't need to install Server 2003 on the same box as XP (unless your just doing it for testing purposes).

If you do go this route then you'll need to reinstall everything on the Server 2003 partition. However any applications that you have developed should run the same on Server 2003 (if that's what your asking).

On a side-note, IIS 7 is waaaay different that 5.1 or 6 (just wanted to throw that out there ;-)

Do you know if I can run VPN on xp pro IIS? I may just use the xp box to test and install windows server 2003 on a new box. Thank you

VPN and IIS (to my knowledge) aren't related.

You can connect via a vpn tunnel to a newtwork and then access IIS - if tha tis what you are asking.

However, if you are on the same LAN, then there is no need for vpn.

you can setup incoming VPN connections on XP Pro if thats what you are asking.
