I have read everything I can find and tried everything that I have read at least 10 times and I CAN NOT get form results sent to my email.

I have a Win2003 server with IIS6.0 and 2002 Server Extensions. Microsoft SharePoint is also installed. I am trying to use my email server as the SMTP mail server.

Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks!!

Thanks so much for the help. Here's the URL for just a one field test form:

And here's the error message you get when you submit:
FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.

Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details.

There is never an entry in the event log for anything pertaining to this.

Hmmm... the form code looks fine actually. I did notice that it may not be set to actually save any field, not sure if this will help - but let's try it.

On this test form, right click inside the form and select form properties. click the options button and then click on the Saved fields tab. Make sure that you have the "S1" form field selected in the saved fields box. Right now it looks as if the form is not set to save any field data. click the OK buttons out of the dialog boxes and save the page... then we can test the form again and see if that might have been the problem.

S1 was already in the Saved Fields box, as was B1, but I saved and tested again. Same error message. Thanks for any other ideas you may have.

I removed the extensions and reinstalled a few days ago, but can repeat the process if you think necessary. I think that I have the SMTP section configured correctly. We have our own mail server, and have tried various ways to enter its name in the SMTP server field on the Mail Settings section of the Configuration Settings page. Right now it is set at gcsadmin.gaston.k12.nc.us. I have also tried GCSADMIN/Gaston (our Domino servername/domain name) and dmz-host (which is the fully qualified Internet host name of the mailserver.

Cathy,

Perhaps it would be good to test a simple form like you have posted - except try creating a new feedback form from the new page templates dialog box. Leave the form properties to send results to the feedback.txt page it will create when you save the test form - don't configure this one to send results to email. Let's see if the form will work if results are told to send to a file instead of email. might help narrow the problem.

OK- this is good. Next, I would try adding an email address to send results to in addition to the default _private/feedback.txt file and see how it handles. We will be able to see if the form simply doesn't send anything at all, or if it sends results to the .txt file, but chokes on trying to email the results.

Back to the error message! It did append the results to the results.txt file, though.

OK, Cathy - good trouble shooting :) I think this is telling us that there is a problem with the configuration of the SMTP information. Keep in mind that server side issues and technicalities are not my area of expertise...

Have you tried mail.gaston.k12.nc.us
usually the mail servers are mail. or mail2. - something like that.

When you set up your email client to receive email at the address you have on this server, what is the outgoing email server set to for that config? That might help you know what SMTP info to put in the FP server extensions administrator.

HTH - let us know how this comes along for you.

I have exactly the same issue with FPE2002 running on Win2003 and IIS6 the form errors when trying to send mail. Doe anyone have a fix for this problem?

Thanks,

Richard
