We've got a 2000 IPS system with mostly all IP phones.
The system has a remote expansion at one of our locations.

I've got one extension (121) that was working before "something" happened. Now that extension gets the double assignment message any time I try to log it in on either the host or remote site.

I've tried CM1290 on both the host and remote boxes and there is no MAC address associated with the extension.

The phone that was using extension 121 can be logged in as another extension and I've tried extension 121 on multiple phone at both locations with no luck.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm a novice with this system and use Matworx for all of the configuration I do.

I have not made any changes to that extension before it went wacky but I have made some forwarding changes to other extensions recently.

Thanks.

Check Cmd 11 and make sure it has not been assigned as a virtual. or even easier try assigning it as a virtual in cmd 11 and it may tell you where it is assigned.

Thanks for the reply.

CMD 11 on both the main system and the DMR for extension 121 are "NONE".

I tried to assign 121 to my extension (105) in cmd 11 and it came back with check cm 14 19015. That came back as F121.

I tried to log in as 121 and I still get double assignment and 1290 is still clear on the DMR and the main system.

Right now I have forwarded all calls for 121 to the temporary extension they are using. It works as a quick fix for calls coming from the auto attendant but I would like to get back to normal.

Check to make sure protected login is not set,not sure but might be a cause. CMD 08>513> make sure it is a 0,
CMD 15480>00-15> make is a 1. When all else fails the reset button is your friend. No joke, if push comes to shove back it up and reset , it will clear the problem.

It strikes me that 121 is currently assigned in your system so what do you get in 1290 for 121? is the extension you are currently trying to assign this to logged off?

3racefan3: CMD 08>513 is 0. CMD 15480>00-15> are all set to 7. I have already tried a reset on the DMR. I am trying to avoid a reset on the main system to keep the users from panicking.

OzzieGeorge: 1290>121 on the host and DMR are NONE. We are using <speaker><6><9> on the phone before trying to log in with ext 121. I have tried it on the assigned phone and my desk phone and always get "double assignment".

You need to make sure the MAC address is removed from 1292 as well (Fixed Connection Mode).

If this still does not work, try to set 08>516>0 for system overwrite and login STA 121. In this case the login will overwrite the other logged in station, and force a logout of the station.

Another thing to check which comes up as a reason every time I run into this: duplicate IP address. On my system, the phones are not set to DHCP, they all get manual IP address by me, but if I make a mistake, I get this message. So if you have manual IP addresses for your phones, just give it another one. But before you assign a new one, ping it from a computer and make sure you don't get a reply.

I really appreciate all the suggestions.

I tried CMD 08>516>0 on both the main system and DMR and still got a double assignment.

I tried assigning a new IP to the affected phone. Ext 121 still comes up with a double assignment.

CMD 1292 and 1290 both report NONE on the host and remote systems for ext 121.

I often have this problem. My solution is to delete the number out the system then assign it as an analog then reassign it as a IP number. Sometimes a reset of the PABX helps but remember to do your EC6 and EC8 commands before the reset.
