I also inadvertantly emptied my recycle bin too :(
I seem to remember that the files are not really deleted, just renamed with a strange character replacing the 1st file name character, and then being able to list all those deleted files and change the strange character back manually to the correct character...
I just don't remember how to do it ? Help please...
This is on an XP machine - and it wasn't me that did this dumb thing but my doofus neighbor !! :)))

Ive not had reason to use any of these-there is a section here called file recovery utilities:

Pc inspector has been recommended several times in various threads.
I recently saw 1 suggestion for disk investigator

a couple of the other items look like they have the potential to fit your situation.

A few other things you can look at:

google on stuff like data recovery will give you many more.

Forensic Tool Kit will solve your problem, quite simple to use and even if you have installed an new os you still will be able to retrieve most the files deleted

That's something I've been wondering about- are the forensic type tools "stronger" than some of the other data recovery tools?
I was wondering about a forensic tool as a possible solution to the thread below this one regarding a corrupt ghost image file, but have no knowledge to make a judgement with.

you can use data recovery softwares like drive rescu or something like that.
