I know this is a silly question and I kinda
know that the answer is no,but here goes
I have a client that has a hotel with 100 rooms in it.
and what happens is when someone in a guest room and forgets to dial a 9 they are keying in the local areacode
and it is ringing room 508 and this happens at all hours of the night this is a real PITA for the customer because they
have 10 digit dialing so room 508 gets it all the time
I suggested going to a 4 digit numbering plan but they won't
go for it.Is there any work around that anyone can think of?

change the room extension to another number. It won't line up with the rest of the rooms, but atleast guests won't get all the calls!

Build a route for 508-xxx-xxxx

It doesn't need to be a valid route. We don't really want to send any calls to it really, but we need to define it to play a little trick

Next build 10 speedcall (abbreviated dial) numbers:
5080
5081
5082
5083
5084
5085
5086
5087
5088
5089

Send all 10 of these to a common RAD with a recording that says something like "I'M SORRY BUT YOU MUST FIRST DIAL 9 TO PLACE LOCAL CALLS"

This will have the net effect of delaying digits "508" dialed by themselves (508 + nothing to follow) for the duration of your inter digit timer before ringing extn 508

Tell your front desk when calling room 508 to dial "#" after the digits. This will bypass the inter digit timer and ring ext 508 immediatly

Dude you forgot 1 small detail you do not get to ARS
untill you have dialed a 9 so what good would it be to
define a route for 508-xxx-xxxx?

MitelInMyBlood, what is the abbreviated FAC you are using (5)????

You're right, I overlooked 1 little detail, the fact that it's a 200D. Duh. I was thinking 2ooICP. Actually I was thinking more along the lines of a 911 accidental misdial trap I saw used on an old SG and how yuo could maybe adapt that idea to his problem. He cant do that on his 200D because like cwc3 said theres no ars till you dial 9. Mea culpa
