Hi! I am just a beginner on this software and I have some questions ...

1). Is there any way to save an Email appendix (from the Netscape emailclient) directly to Livelink (without using the way above an Harddisk)?!

2). Is there any way to create an harddisk-folder, work with it, and synchronize it with an "offline marked" LiveLink-Folder (in the LiveLinkExplorer / Windows Explorer).

Thank you a lot ...
Jan.

Hi, there are two additional ways of achieving saving to Livelink.

Firstly, use WebDAV module, which will allow you to set up a Web Folder in Windows Explorer\My Network Places. You can save from any WebDAV compliant application such as MS Word.

Secondly, use Livelink Explorer 4.4.2. This requires a Client install. Livelink Explorer allows you to synchronise and use Off-Line folders. Personally, the whole point of Document Management is to keep every thing in a central repository with the latest version.

Regards, Mark.

Hi! Thx for your Post!

I think a WebDAV module isn't installed yet ... So, the second way sounds interesting. I am using the LiveLink Explorer 4.3.1.

Does that mean that there is an Folder on my Harddisk on wich I save my files and which I can synchronize with an online Folder from LiveLink? Or, does it mean that I use the LiveLink Explorer in Offline Mode an that I am able to use the "offline marked" files in this offline mode?!

Are there any ways (in the second method) to save data from Office Products (Word, Excel) and from the Netscape Mail Client onto an LiveLink Workspace (directly from word or excel or netscape)? Or does that only work with the WebDAV module?!

Can you describe the procedure of the second way?!
Thx for your answer and sorry for my bad english ;)!

Bye,
Jan.

If saving files from a hard drive (folders, files) to livelink is your problem consider a good lapi product like
authorlink made by gives you the flexibility that your users may want. Also any MSOFFICE product(word, excel, outlook) will have a "Save to Livelink"
button, icon so it saves the user time in doing his/her work. This does not need any webdav components on your livelink server

You don't mention how many user require this. Livelink Explorer uses LAPI and therefore ties up your thread to a much greater extent than WebDAV. Also consider waiting until Livelink 9.5 which allows you single click to edit/save documents.

If you choose LL Explorer, use the latest version of LL Explorer Professional due to the performance increase.
