HI

Here are 2 problems which occured by backing up Mailboxes from an Exchange Server

Our Environment
we have a Microsoft Exchange2003 Server on a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. These Server are in our Root Domain (xxx.org) The Networkerserver Legato networker 7.1 (Windows 2003)is in the root Domain, too.

I have installed the 7.1 Client and the Module for Exchange Server version 4.0.0 on the Exchange Server. Backing up the Database isn´t a problem but when i start to Backup Mailboxes (by Networker user for Exchange Server or by Saveset definition in a scheduled Backup) i get the follwing Error

[7780] mapi(1035): OpenMsgStore() = 0x8004011d: Fehler bei der Anmeldung beim Microsoft Exchange Server-Computer. (Microsoft Exchange Server-Informationsspeicher)
[7780] svmain(908): begin_mb_item_backup() failed with status = 0x8004011d
[7780] The XBSA transaction was not committed; the save operation did not complete.

Translation in english
[7780] mapi(1035): OpenMsgStore() = 0x8004011d: Error by Logon to Microsoft Exchange Server-Computer. (Microsoft Exchange Server-Informationstore)
[7780] svmain(908): begin_mb_item_backup() failed with status = 0x8004011d
[7780] The XBSA transaction was not committed; the save operation did not complete.

all Transaktions are made with the Account of the highest possible Domain Admin ( Administrator@xxx.org). I dont know why i can´t get any Information from the Exchange Informationstore. When i start the Networker user for Exchange Server i can see the Maiboxes but can´t Bachup them.

This was the first problem
now here´s The second

By starting Networker user for Exchange Server i can see the Maiboxes but only from the Domain where The Exchange Server is assigned to not from any subdomain.
can somebody help me !!!!

The first problem seems to be obvious - it is clearly stated in the Admin Guide:
"Microsoft Exchange Server does not actually create a mailbox until the
user logs on to the mailbox with an e-mail client program, or the mailbox
receives an e-mail message."

This obviously failed for whatever reason.

With respect to the second problem - soory, no idea.

Hi 605

Thank´s for your tipp but that wasn´t the problem

All Mailboxes are displayed in the Exchange System Manager, connected by Clients and with some Mails in them.

Backup dont work. I get the same errors.

Ensure the user is also in exchange admin.

The error that you got, 0x8004011d, is typically because the account that is used to access the Exchange database does not have enought rights and priviledges to backup the database.

Whatever account you chose to use has to have full access rights to the exchange database, i.e. this account should have the following exchange privs (which is set with the Exchange administrator gui):

- List Contents
- Read Properties
- Administer Information Store
– View Information Store Status
– Receive As
– Send As

The account should also have sufficient system priviledges so it can backup the regular file system. This means that it should be part of the local administrator group and even the backup operator group.

On the Exchange server, log on using the account set up above and try the following backup command:

nsrxchsv -s server_name -c exchange_server -l full -g group_name -vvv MSEXCH: >c:\test1.log 2>&1

If it is taking it's time, then look at NetWorker Administrator and see if the backup is actually writing data to tape. If it is, then it is working and you can stop the command.

If the backup fails, then check the file c:\test1.log for relevant messages.
