Hi again,

We have 3 PBXs in networking. Two are old 81C with VGMC32 and SS ISP1100 (soon EOL...). NRS is on these old SS. rls 4.5.
We have also a CS1000E HA rls 5.5 as a PCS and another CS1000E HA as a backup (SCS)
I would like to migrate NRS from our 81C PBXs rls 4.5 to the rls 5.5.
To be honest I have no documentation at all, just my brain.
I need a primary and an alternate SS for the NRS like we currently have.
I know I must configure primary on CS1000E HA PCS and the alternate on another system, then on our backup CS1000E HA SCS.

My question is : Can I setup the new NRS on the CS1000E HA (by clicking "Enable SIP Proxy/Redirect Server" and setting the "Network Routing Service Role") without any impact ?
Then create a new database for NRS rls 5.5 with all the endpoints configured in NRS rls 4.5.
And when we want to migrate, I just have to change the new Primary and Secondary Proxy IP in all the gw endpoints configuration to reach the NRS rls 5.5 instead of NRS rls 4.5 ?

I do it myself because our partner says it takes 4 entire work days to configure and migrate NRS from 4.5 to 5.5 (15 gw endpoints). So it's very expensive. And I don't think it takes so much time...

Thanks for help.

Ok, but in "Signaling Server and IP Peer Networking" there is nothing with rls 5.5. Indeed it is similar.
But nothing said about 2 NRS.

Pre Rel.6 you can only have one NRS in one Node.

Assuming the ISP1100 is the Primary NRS and there is no Alternate in your network I would do this:

1.- Change NRS Role from Primary to Alternate
2.- Change the information at each SS level so:
-Primary NRS IP Points to a dummy IP
-Alternate NRS IP points to ISP1100
* These 2 steps are service affecting but will allow you to work in the new NRS *
3.- Migrate the database from ISP1100 to new Primary NRS
4.- Sync new Alternate NRS
5.- Change the information at each SS level so:
-Primary NRS IP Points to a new Prim NRS
-Alternate NRS IP points to new ALT NRS
6.- Change ISP1100 NRS Role to Failsafe.

You should review NN43001-564 and NN43001-312 to check step by step upgrade procedures.

As a note, the 4 days your vendor is proposing doesn't look crazy to me if you take into account that this requires proper planning to minimize downtime and planning is also work!

THIS IS MY APPROACH BASED ON THE LITTLE INFO YOU PROVIDED! I DON'T HAVE ALL THE FACTS!
