IS-IT--Management
I have a challenge I am researching and I wanted to throw this out there to even see if it was possible. I manage a small campus network but in the small campus are 2 seperate autonomous networks. I can not join them together but I do need to monitor both.
I have patched both circuits to my homebuilt NOC monioring server. It does have 2 GIG NIC's and the system is running WIndows 7.
I don't think it is possible to have 2 seperate gateway's on this system and that is not what I am trying to accomplish.
What I am trying to do is Use NIC 1 to have the host operating system use Network A and then use NIC 2 to map strictly to a VMWARE Workstation virtualized Windows7 system to monitor Network B.
However, the Gateway problem persists. I can not get NIC 1 to use Network "A" and NIC 2 to map only to the VMWARE host. It is one or the other. Is it possible to monitor 2 autonomous networks with one system this way? Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.
