I have a storage server with 2 nics, one is gb, one is 100 mb. I want to set it up so that the gb nic is accessed from the lan, and the mb nic is only connected to the wan. I removed the gateway and DNS servers from the gb nic, how do I set up so that the mb nic is not used on the lan?

Make sure you have correct subnets for each card.
LAN subnet should be 255.255.255.0 and your WAN should be different.

Both nic can't communicate eachother as you surely setup private IP's for lan & surely you have a live IP for you'r WAN Connection. SO the mb is not used on the lan untill or unless you have configured NAT .

I have configured NAT for my FTP site. I just don't want my GB card to handle all the local connectios and have my MB card handle my FTP site traffic
