Hello,

I have two networked BCM 50 systems and right now I have 2 phones on my desk. One phone (as of yesterday) can intercom both internal and external numbers. This is a digital set connected to BCM 2. The other phone is an I2004 connected to BCM 1. When a call comes in on a POTS line I have it ringing both on several phones at BCM 1 as well as some remote I2004 phones (such as the one on my desk). Is there a way to make the POTS line from BCM 1 ring on both BCM 1 as well as BCM 2 phones? If not there is less of an advantage networking two BCMs then simply using IP phones. If possible I'd like the line to appear on the BCM 2 phone so it can also be used for outgoing calls. If they have to use an access code instead that would be alright as well.

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Also does anyone know if these features may be available in RLS2 (and an ETA on it)?

I've also noticed that I can call all DNs at BCM 1 from BCM 2 (2 from 1) however the voicemail DNs (199 for site 1 and 399 for site 2) cannot be called. It tries to forward to the prime DN right away instead of going to the AA. This is the same if I try and use a CCR tree in BCM 2 to allow a user (via private network/route) to leave a message in a VMB located on BCM 1.

Release 2 is due out Q4. It won't fix what you're trying to do though.

You can't have an incoming call ring phones on both systems simultaneously - the call needs to be redirected/transferred over the IP trunks before it can start ringing a phone on the other system. That being said, the call can ring on a phone X times, then be forwarded to the other system if desired.

You can't have a trunk on BCM 1 appear on BCM 2, but you can configure remote access packages on BCM 1 to allow calls to tandem from the IP trunks in BCM 2 to the PSTN trunks in 1. Give remote access package 1 in system 1 access to pool A and bloca (assuming bloca are your IP trunks and pool A are your COT's. Assign that package to the PSTN trunks and IP truinks. On BCM 2, build a route marked public pointed to bloca, assign your destination code (such as 9A) to that route, absorb nothing - you want the 9 to go across the IP trunks. You'll probably need to change your prefix default to 8 digits, or 11 digits, depending on local dialing rules.

For the VM issue, build a target line and assign it to be answered by auto attendant. You can't call the voicemail DN directly from off site - it has to go through the AA.

Hi Biv,

Thanks for the reply and your suggestions regarding line pools and voicemail. As far as the lines are concerned does changing the digit count affect my local to local calling from BCM 1 and 2?

I got the voicemail working. On BCM 1 my VM DN is 800. I used a target line and then set 800 as prime. Now from site 2 if I dial 199 it goes to CCR tree #1 on BCM 1. I'll have to play around with this to see if I can get it to point to another CCR tree or VM box directly...

I also read that paging from one location doesn't work through the sets using IP trunks either. I'm surprised that these abilities are not possible between networked BCMs. I was hoping DNs on one BCM would be treated as DNs on the second or similar functionality be available via the VoIP trunks so features, line appearances, etc. could be shared but as you’ve explained this isn’t the case.

Thanks for the help so far.
