suppllied by comcast.Question IS do i need 2 NIC cards in the
server, they want to setup for 2-3 VPN connections from other office.i read that you need 2 NICS,the tech who setup system say's not necessary to have 2 NICS. will it be secure??

Any Comments WELCOME THANKS

Well I am no expert, but I have done it using 1 and 2 cards.
I only have a small 2000 server setup, 14 clients and 3 VPN's.

The way its set up at the moment is with 2 cards, one card is for the LAN and the other is for the WAN. But dont get trapped like I did the first time. Only the WAN card needs a Gateway address, If you assine a Gateway to both cards then you end up in all sorts of poo. E.G clients cannot log on, or even see the Domain and it gose on and on. But Its intermittent so trying to reslove it is a nightmare.

Hope this helps a little.

Questions: what kind of router/firewall are you talking about? What capacity are they? How are u gonna connect your LAN to the system for the workgroup (by using a switch or a hub)?
Depending on these info, you can gave many option including the use or not of 2 nic.
Thx
