I read the FAQ section on this question but it is not clear and/or I don't understand.
I have one DID number with the extension of 2371. Currently 2371 has a VM assigned. Person answering that phone wants an additional VM on that number to route general voicemail calls and another VM for her own personal use. How is that set up?

Not certain of the type of Voice Mail, flash, call pilot, star talk, or what, but basically you set up a guest mail box outside the extension range. In the directory listing you would give mailbox to her name. As far as I know, all calls routed to the extension will go to the mailbox for that extention. I do not believe you can have two mail boxes for one extension per se. The guest mailbox will not light the message waiting light or give any other outward sign of a message. Must be check manually.

We have a Norstar 1.1 with startalk. Basically what I want to do is:
Caller calls 2371 and gets an announcement or menu "please press 1 for the general voicemail (they press 1 and can leave a message in that mailbox), press 2 for Jane Doe (they can press 2 and leave a message for Jane).
Is that possible?

Build a Target line for the DID number and have AA answer that line with a CCR Tree. Then in the CCR Tree you can give the caller those options.

Do you have instructions for building a Target line?

What software and whats your start dn range, what type of system

It is a Norstar MICS release 1.1. DID range is 2300 to 2399. Extension is 2371 that we want to put on an announcement with prompt 1 (for that extension's voicemail) and then prompt 2 for another extension voicemail.

Target lines start at Line 145.
Find an unused target line (say line 160) and set it up to recieve digits 371. When a call comes in for 2371, it will come in on a DID trunk, the CO will send the digits 371 and Norstar will treat this as an incoming call on line 160.
Go into the AA menu on the voicemail system and under lines, tell the system to answer line 160 with AA on 0 rings and tell it to use table 1 or 2 (whatever you haven't used yet).
Set up a new custom call tree with path 0 giving the menu "press 1 for this, 2 for that, etc" Then set path one to transfer the call to an extension or directly to LVMSG in the voicemail box.
Go back into the AA menu and under "table", tell whatever table you are using to use the new CCR tree you built.

The question is does the user take both personal and general calls before going to vmail?

You could have the user just say in their greeting "If you wish to leave a general message press *1000 now, other wise you may leave me a personal message after the tone" (if the general delivery mail box is 1000).
