1.WPwin8 has generated errors, error log being created.
This message pops up when trying to print for the first time in WP8, subsequent print jobs are message free.

2.Also on first use, when using format drop down menu for labels, error "wpwin warning, no printer installed", subsequent use of the drop down give no messages.

Printers are installed and all working (LAN printers).

I searched the forum and could not find a post on these, any help is always appreciated. Thanks. J Mo

It sounds like the two problems are related. It appears that WordPerfect is not seeing the printer on the network during its intitial print, etc.

Is the printer in a sleep mode when you first try to print. You may need to wake the printer up.

What operating system are you using on the machine/s that are having the problem? If it is Windows 2000 that you are running WordPerfect from, you may want to setup a printer that is local and assign it to the TCP/IP address of your JetDirect box or card if you are printing to one. Windows 2000 tends to have a difficult time sometimes seeing a printer that is shared on a network through a JetDirect box. I have found that by setting the printer up local and telling it the address of the JetDirect box, the printing problems go away. A good indication that you have a problem with it finding the printer in Windows 2000 is when the speed of the machine seems to be a problem. If you go into the printer panel you will see Windows 2000 trying to locate the printer. If it doesn't say that the printer is available then you may want to try assigning the printer as I suggested.

You may want to make sure that you also have the most current version of the printer driver from the manufacturer.

If you are sharing the printer from an As 400 from IBM, then you may want to look at the following link:

I would check for communication to and from the printer.

It may also be something like what is described in the following link:

Hope this helps!

Thanks David, I'll give the local setup and direct to the IP# a shot. The printer is on the LAN printserver, no jetdirect. The OS is Win2K, the printer is fine with all else on the system and is fine with WP8 after theinitial print request. No speed problems with the application, it whirrs along just fine. I agree it seems to be print setup related, I just don't know where to look to correct in WP8.
Thanks again fo ryour feedback.

Thanks to David for your feedback !! You are a help and thanks again for sharing information, it's refreshing !!
The fix you suggested worked - I guess it's a fluke with 2K Pro and WP8 and printers.
You da man !!!!

I'm glad to see that it worked for you! Win2K is a funny beast when it comes to printing. If everything is not just the way that it expects it to be, you will have the type of problem that you described.

Good luck in your endeavors!!!

Possibly related problem - on w98.

Printing from another program altogether(accounting software), machine will hang up and not print. We hav to c-a-d to kill the program. The PC loses all of its printers. A reboot fixes it, but that is kind of annoying.

It gave me an error earlier about 'perfectprint.' Does this have something to do with the Corel stuff?
