We currently have two IP Office 500's hooked up at two different locations (100 miles apart). We have two Cisco RVS4000's (gateway/VPN's) at each site. The VPN connection is up and linked.
Can someone tell us how we can configure the IP Offices to communicate with each other via voIP through the VPN's? Both IP Offices work as is connected to copper, both have VCM's and both have the networking license. (We attempted to configure the two with the instructions we were given, when we try to contact the other office we press intercom and after pressing the first digit of the extension we get incompatible on the LCD screen of the phone(s) (1416's)and each IP Office has different extension's ie: system A 201-203, and system B 301-306). Thanks in advanced for any responses.

Create a H.323 trunk on each site.
On Site A set the target ip address to the ip address of Site B
Enable SCN on the trunk ( on by default )
Add a IP Route : 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 GW ip address local gateway and select the destination LAN1 or LAN2

Do the same on Site B but the ip address points to site A

You must be able to dial a extension on the other site.

If that works then your are done and can sit back.
If it doesn't work then there is a problem in the VPN network and if you are nottheadministrator the call the network admnistrator and tell them their network sucks and need to be fixed. job done.

If you are the administrator then you'll have to check why the SCN not works.
SCN use the following ports
TFTP 69
AV RIP 50796 ( from my head )
RTC Voip port range which can be found in Manager > System > LAN 1 > Voip page
And maybe more, use etherreal to trace ip traffic between ipo's.
Read the documentation, take a course, call a certified Avaya partner or solve the problem.

good luck
