I am having two glitches now after my upgrade to 4.2.14(no big surpise normal Avaya)
1. When my user transfers(using the transfer button on the phone) it used to ring for awhile and then go to the users VM now it rings awhile and if the user does not answer it rings back to the user that did the transfer.
2. Inbound Calls used to show the phone number when they were ringing in but now it say "Voicemail" until you answer and then after to you answer it showes the Caller ID.

There were no setting changes just the upgrade that caused this. I know this is probably stupid but I have not found it in my searches online.

on topic,

have you tried setting the transfer return time to off?

off topic.
i have a feeling that the forum over there wont see much technical talk

i suggested that Tom, I have also put the same settings on a 4.2.14 system here and it doesn't do as Larry says.

Either a reboot will fix or the call is presented differently through an AA,etc.

Off topic - or stars!

oh yeah didnt see you had suggested that. does it go to voicemail when the no answer time expires?

true we need stars.

do you know what worries me most. i am yet to see one single post from bas trying to rubbish the allegations. he seems comfortable with it lol

Not sure if this is related but recently installed a system on 4.2.14

IP 500 with a range of 5610 and 5602's

a call comes in and is answered on the display of the phone it says where from the AA is has come from (as i filled in the information in the AA) the caller then transfers this to another extension on the system in the correct way but this is what happends i.e extn 205 dials transfer 215, on the display of extension 215 it says the external calling parties number this is an announced transfer but extension 215 thinks its an external call, so when she answers it still shows the external number of the calling party who is listening to hold music and not the number/name of the extension that is trying to do the announced transfer.

This is currently outstanding with avaya but they are asking me what option i have ticked in monitor because information is not showing up when i know 100% i have the correct tabs set.

any help would be great thanks

Just tried that on same software but with 5410 and it shows the user in brackets after the external callers number, must be an issue with IP handsets :)

To elaborate while ringing the tranfer target it show the user in brackets after i.e "External 123456 (Andy)" and when answered it just shows the user name "Andy 301" then when the transfer is completed it displays "External 123456".

@Maxwell it maybe worth starting a new thread on this as it's better than hijacking this already rather lengthy thread :)

it will disable the transfer return. so it shouldnt happen.

set it to off

· Transfer return Time (secs): Default = Blank (Off), Range 1 to 99999 seconds.
Sets the delay after which any call transferred by the user, which remains unanswered, should return to the user. Note that pre-3.2 IP Office the recall only occurs if the user has no other connected call. For IP Office 3.2+ transfer returns will occur if the user has available call appearance buttons. Recalled calls will continue ringing and do not follow forwards or go to voicemail.

Larry, my memory has just kicked in and reminded me that I had this issue a while back (4.0.5), where Reception would transfer to a user then bounce back completely ignoring the VM, I had to reboot the VM PC and the system and I had to recreate the effected users mailbox's (by deleting their accounts folder) too to clear it. Hope that helps :)

FYI turned the Transfer return time to Off and it did not fix it. Also talked with a ACE and she said she thinks it is a bug. Great we get to wait another month for Avaya to fix there messups.

Have any of you upgraded to the new version?

yeah we have a few sites on this. no problems so far

Larry, did you try as I suggested i.e deleting their mailbox and restarting the vm services/PC?

We are running an IP500 with 4.2.11 with all 5420's and 5410's.

The reception also uses Soft Console..

She has had a few issues...

1. Like this thread has mentioned.. If she transfer a call to someone in the office, and they don't pick up, it rings back to the receptionist. Doesn't happen every time, just sometimes. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for it.

2. When a call comes in, the number will show on the display and then disappear, but still shows in Soft Console. The little telephone icon shows on the phone while ringing, but it doesn't ring or show the number, Soft Console icon blinks when the call is coming in though.

3. Occasionally, but not as often, a call will call into her desk, and will ring once and drop.. Then they call back saying they got disconnected.

None of this happened on 4.1 when they had it. Happened right after upgrading to 4.2

Any ideas?

@h382, start a new thread to increase your chances of getting answers to these. I know it's related but this thread is already huge :)
