Hey Guys,

I have a network in which another domain is going to be added (actually a server moved from another building.) to my existing domain. These need to be kept seperate but I would like to share one DHCP. Is this possible? What DNS issues will I have with AD? There is only going to be four users using this "moved" server so if I need to manualy configure them I can, but automation is always better.

Thanks,

Zych

Nobody has any input?

I have two domains and use one DHCP. You have to make sure that your DNS is set with forward lookup zones for both domains. You also have to set up the trusts. It will work.

Will this work without the trusts? I want to keep them seperate. It is two companies sharing the same network and T1. For security I want them to stay seperate.

Thanks for you input.

Zych,

DHCP is a network service not an AD Windows obbligation. DNS is also a service.
Set up the DHCP with seperate address scopes. In one of them create reservations to map the MAC addresses to the four/five machines with the IP address range different from the other network.
The server can be in any domain or subnet work I mean one or the other.

Hey JockFrog,

I gave you a star since you are correct. It worked fine like I thought it would. I thought your post would help other people with the same question.
