2 Connections With XP

Hi

I have looked for help with this , but had no luck.

When i connect a win xp pro machine to a netware 3.12 machine , i seem to have 1 extra connection 'not logged in'.

If i connect with numerous xp machines , i only still have the 1 'not logged in' connection which doesnt seem to be tied to any machine.

Does window xp create a 'dummy' connection if one does not exist , and use it for something?

I have a 25 user system , and this issue is causing a problem now , as i sometimes need to have 25 legitamate users on the network at one time.

Wich command did you use to view the number of connection ?
I'm asking this because I'm a beginner (really on Novell's systems and I've try some command to view the connections to my server (I'm using Windows XP here) and I can see only one connection. So there's 2 reason of this: I'm not using the same command, or you have a problem, and if it's this case, I'm not sure I can help :/

I have seen what you are talking about when running Win XP using the M'Soft client. When the XP machine connects to the server it seems to use a connection, then once the user logs in it uses another for the login and sooner or later the not logged in connection disappears.

I can see this would cause a problem if you are near your license limit - an XP machine wouldn't be able to log in because it is already using a connection.

I normally use the Novell client, and haven't seen this problem until recently I left one workstation running the M'Soft client because for unknown reasons the Novell client wouldn't install.

Mathias I think Pete is looking at his connections either using the MONITOR on the console (Load Monitor at the rompt) or using fconsole at a workstation. Either of these have a menu option "connection information" which gives a list of active connections.
