Can anyone tell me why when I go into the device mgr that I have 2 COM1 ports? I have to hook up some external telephony and I want to find out which one is the right one to hook it to. I need to find out which COM1 is the right one to configure.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

No. The phone we are hooking up is a software based app with a "box" that hooks up to the com port. Is there any way to "ping" a com port to see what is using it?

Look in the Bios and see what the settings are..

I Finally figured it out, for some reason after you enable the 2nd COM port in bios, which by default is disabled, **you have to set them both to automatic**, and you have to remove both of the duplicate COM1's in the Device Mgr. When you reboot, it finds COM1 and COM3. Not sure if that made sense but now it's fine.
Just an FYI
Thanks for the help guys.
