I have 2 BCM 50e's connected by VPN over the public network. I have configured a route for VOIP Trunks and MCDN using H.323. Both systems are using i1140s. I can make calls from one system to the other but the problem is only one way audio. I can here the other end but they cannot here me. Does any body know what would cause this?

IP sets at the site that cannot be heard do not know how to find the IP sets at the site that can be heard. Check your routing, VPN local and remote networks and firewall settings to ensure no blockage.

I checked the firewall settings on both BCM's. They are configured the same. The firewall is open to UDP port 500, IPSEC ESP and the 3rd rule is any local traffic on any TCP/UDP. I tried disabling the firewall on both ends and that didnt work. The problem is only on the remote end. The local end can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. Both BCM's are set up identically with the exception of different destination codes.

When a call is established, there is no interaction between BCM's and sets. Packets flow from 1140 at site a to 1140 at site b.

If the 1140 at a can hear b, then that means the packets can flow from b's set to a. Conversely if b cannot hear a, then that means that the packets cannot flow from a to b.

This has nothing to do with the BCM's nor any firewall settings on the BCM's unless they are in fact the VPN endpoints.

The BCM's have the integrated routers so they are hosting the vpn connection. I do agree on the voice packet flow. The other piece I left out was that we can dial extensions in each direction just no voice packet flow from a to b. My next attempt is to reboot site a.

Again, when a call is ESTABLISHED, the packets are from set to set. Only during SETUP up the call is the flow from set a to bcm a to bcm b to set b. Once the call establishes, the flow is set a to set b. Ergo no voice.

Humour me. find out the IP of each of the sets. unplug them. set up 1 computer at each site with the ip of the set from that site. Ping back and forth from computer to computer. If both compters can ping each other, it's firewall/VPN related. If neither can ping, it's configuration.

I can ping in both directions. IP sets at site a are configured for DHCP with the start range of 192.168.0.235-245. Site b is on subnet 192.168.1.225-235. I have the IP sets on VLAN 2 recieving DHCP from the BCM. The PC's are on the same subnet but recieve DHCP from the integrated router with the range of 192.168.0.100-125 for site a. Site b 192.168.1.100-125 and on VLAN 3. I did check each PC and IPset to make sure they were recieving DHCP from the correct server.

Thank you for the help. I found my own fault. On site b under the DHCP configuration I set the defualt gateway to the address of the BCM vs the address of the gateway router. Reset the IP phones on site b and what a magical experience. Thanks again
