I have a PDF that displays employee data. We put a gray text background (not watermark) on the file that reads "electronic copy" and is set to show on the screen and also print. Some employees are stating the text is printing as black (not gray) and is obscuring the information on the page (both on screen & printed). Any idea why this would occur?

Also, if this cannot be fixed, we may have no choice but to remove the background. However, I cannot see how to do this without having to recreate the entire file (and believe me that is NOT something I want to do!). Can the background be removed?

I am using Acrobat 7.0 Professional.

Many thanks!

Without knowing how you made the background, it's a little hard to answer.

You might open the add watermark/background window and check the opacity. If 100 try it at 75 or 50 and see if that helps. You just need that background to be visible, feint will probably be ok.

It is faint - I think the opacity is set to 25%. However, it is still showing as solid black text for some people (not all).

I'm guessing that the people with problems have some sort of printing set to black rather than grayscale since it's only some. It could also be a transparency issue depending on the settings used for the pdf and the program the people are viewing and printing from.

If you want to hide the thing just open the add background and uncheck any "show". then save. If you want to replace it later just open background window and choose a new pdf for the background.

Sometimes it helps to use a grahic, even just text, with a transparent background and saving that graphic as pdf for use as background.

Hi,
Ok I also use adobe acrobat 7 pro and i too had the same problem with the black background,
to remove or to change the background color:
when you have Acrobat open go to Edit then go to Preferences and then go to Accessibility, there you will find the page colors and what to change..
