2.2.8 build from tar ball

I am in the process of upgrading Samaba .

I downloaded the latest tarball 2.2.8.a The configure ran fine . Has anyone else run into this or know of a work around . I am compiling on an NCR system running system V unix.

I've run into similar issues with a wide variety of other packages. I do not have direct experience with this particular error, I am running 2.2.7a and CHAR_BIT is not being used in parse_net.c, though it is used in other files. I would hazard a guess that you need to update your glibc, I run with glibc-2.2.4-13. CHAR_BIT is defined in limits.h, so start your investigation there.
