When trying to install Microsoft Office 2000 Professional on to windows XP i get the following error message. Windows INstaller service cannot update one or more portected windows files. I have since installed windows xp just to see if it was only a problem with office 2000 and the office xp installed without a problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I know this may be a bit obvious but are you logged in as Administrator? On the xp machine due to the protections built into xp some programs must be installed only by someone having Admin level usage. If you are logged in as administrator then you can find out which program is causing the issue by installing the components One at a time I know that this is a lengthy proceedure but it may work for you
