Hello all,

This is a follow up on the Cisco 1841 routers we got that have external Compact Flash - our trouble was in a school, this Compact Flash can be popped out in a second and NO IOS and NO CF $$$$$$$$$$.

Well anyone else that has 1800's, 2800's or 3800's and are concerned about the Compact Flash "walking" away ..........

Thanks to Billy, he gave me a part number for a part made by Cisco - ACS-CF-GUARD.

They just came in, they retail at CDW for $25, our price was $17 - they are 2 1/4 inch long by 1/8 inch wide with a tab on one side and a very tiny micro screw on the other. It fits nicely over the CF and screws down tight - still could be removed if they "wanted" it but then again there is a $250 WIC card right next to it.

I am hoping "out of sight, out of mind" ..........

Can not believe $25 for this - they are smaller and lighter then a WIC slot cover.

What can you do ?????

Just thought that I would post for others who might be in the same boat as me!!

Hope this helps!!

Glad that I could help Gene! As an additional security measure you could create an inventory sheet. Students would essentially perform a short pre-op inspection of equipment before and after class and this would be reflected on the inventory sheet. Just a thought.

By the way, we will be in Tampa from Saturday (14th) through Tuesday so I will be giving you a call. Take it easy!

Billy,

Thanks, sounds like a good idea!

What is nice is once they are in place they just look like they are part of the router and if you did not know what is under that "bump" ..................................:)

We were busy at work last week - racking the new equipment and we got about 200 new desks where the monitors flip down into the desk when not in use, I also have been updating the website at work.................... good to have work to do and be employed :)

See you in Tampa !!!!
