Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help. I have recently been asked to upgrade our companies ADSL service from ADSL Max to ADSL 2+. To do this I have bought and installed an ADSL HWIC and upgraded the 1841 to (C1841-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T which I was told was required for the service.

However, our ISP now say they have changed us over but when I run a speed test it is only reporting back 6.02Mbps down and 647Kbps up speeds which is what we were on before!

The router, on a show dsl int atm 0/0/0 reports the DSL mode as being G.992.5 (ADSL2+) and says it has trained at 15Mb download and over 800K upload. DSL operating mode on the router is set to 'auto'.

I have searched Cisco's website to see if there are any additional commands needed but can't seem to find any information. Has anyone else come across this problem? Our ISP reckon our line is more than capable of supporting the higher speeds due to proximity to the local exchange so they are pointing the finger at the router!

Any help most appreciated.

Cheers

Jim

Your line is synced at just over 15Mbps already

Hi viconsul,

Yeah I have spotted that, it`s just that when I run a speed test it comes back as 8Mbps. Odd.

Our provider has emailed me today however, and said they have moved us to a "Gold" service and now showing at 15Mb!

ISP`s eh? Anyway will run speed tests and post if still the same.

Cheers for your responses.

Nope, still no change. Router trained at 17Mb it says from the sh dsl int atm 0/0/0 but still only getting 6Mb on speed tests.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Jim

are you still experiencing the issue??

I hate all Uppercase... I don't want my groups to seem angry at me all the time! =)

Hi Unclerico, yes I am.

The ISP say they are seeing the connection between 15/17Mb downstream and the router sh dsl int command is showing the same however, when I run a speed test it is showing at best 6Mb and at worst 3Mb download.

I am thinking I am missing something on the router....

Many thanks

Jim

Try and change the clock rate on the atm interface...Off top I can't remember excatly what it should say, but use the "?"...aal5=download and aal2=upload...

int atm0/0/0
clock rate aal5 ?

use the highest number. For adsl1 (non "+"), it may only be 7000000, in which case you would need to upgrade.

clock rate aal2 ?

Again, use the highest. I think for adsl1 it is 2000000

Thanks for the reply burtsbees, unfortunately, my router does not seem to have the clock rate command under the ATM interface?!

Had a look through a few other forums where people have had the same problem and this does appear to have cleared it for them!
