First and foremost, I'm a newbie to Cisco configuration.

Secondly,

I have a 1720 with an ethernet WIC between my 192.xxx.xxx.xxx LAN and a DSL to the internet. Currently, I can ping my LAN addresses, public internet addresses and DNS names (resolved by my providers DNS server) from the Cisco console. I can ping both router interfaces from the LAN side, and ping the WAN interface from another connection on the same DSL subnet.

I cannot ping the WAN interface from anywhere else.
I cannot ping a public address from my LAN through the router.

Where do I look first.

Considering conectivity from the router console is good, I'm guessing I'm not far off from a useful basic setup, but of course god is in the details.

Thank you for your help / suggestions.

Nevermind. I got it.

Now if anyone could point me to a Cisco NAT implementation primer or FAQ, I would appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Check to see if you might be getting through in only 1 direction. (router B sees router A's ICMP request but doesn't know where to send a reply)

try
debug ip icmp
sh ip nat translations

Nat is rather straight forward. See
