I am setting up a system for a client who is using 9620L phones throughout.

Having done 16XX and 14XX phones primarily on my installs, it was kind of funny NOT to see a hold button; it is now a softkey on the 96XX phones!

In terms of programming, the phone defaults with 3 call appearances.

To make things a bit easier for the end-user, I obviously can program softkeys to do stuff (as long as they scroll). My question to you guys is what do y'all normally put there?

I find it kludgy to go through the menu structure of the phone to do certain functions.

I came up with 2 call parks, DND, and Page so far. I was also thinking maybe a xfer to VM.

Thanks!
Ed

I normally have two park buttons directly after my call keys.

Then depending on the situation, a group on/off

really just find out what the customer wants tbh

you dont need to program a sfer to vm button as you can just use the "messages" button to transfer a call into voicemail while on a live call.

I still can't get over hold becoming a sofkey....

Why not ?
The hold, transfer and conference button are next to each other.
Also it makes the phone nicer without all those different buttons.

I agree that there should not be too much on those buttons.

I guess because it's different from what I am used to. I got used to the red hold button on the phone.

I agree that less buttons are better.

No offense but if we stick to what we are used to then the time stands still.
Then nothing new would be invented etc etc :)

No offense taken... I totally agree with you on that.

Just making the end-user see the vision is a bit hard sometimes :p

I never use it.
I always tell end users to press the CA instead of the hold button.
The CA can put it on hold and retrieve it.
The hold button only can put a call on hold and nothing else.
