1616 disabled - unsupported

I am installing my first 1616 ip phone. it registers to the IP 500 4.2.4 but I cannot place any calls on it. When I look in SSA it says telephone type 1616 disabled-unsupported. Has anyone seen this before?
 
Yep, upgrade first....and make sure it has 3 CA keys.

Fill in the HTTP server ip of a HTTP server/CF card in the IP500

What files do I put on the CF card for the upgrade?
 
Just put all the bin files from

C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager

on the root of the CF card

also put the 16xxupgrade.txt/46xxsettings.txt/46xxupgrade.scr

on the CF card, point the TFTP and HTTP server to the IP address of the IP500 and you're done.

I put in the bin files and the 46xxfiles. I do not see the 16xxupgreade.txt
 
I found the 16xx files in 4.2.17 but they were not in the 4.2.4 manager file. The phone is upgrading now, thank you for you help!
 
what about if someone has not a CF card? I supposed that he can use an external HTTP Server...eg hfs or AVAYA MV_IPTEL.
 
You may also need to upgrade the IPO
IIRC when V4.2.4 was released Avaya were still expecting to launch rebadged 17XX handsets & the 16XX handsets would not work (unless you had the field trial licence ;-) )
 
upgrading the IPO was the trick as IPguru says they 16xx phones were not yet available and there were no files for them in 4.2.4. I tried taking the files from 4.2.17 without the upgrade and the 1616 said incompatable. once the system was upgraded the 1616 came up it is working fine now. Thank you for your help!
