I have 2 1601-R routers and 3 Linear Flash Cards and every combination ends up with the error below. I am trying to load the IOS feature pack for IBM/SNA Support and can not get either router to boot. The commpressed image (which has been upload through RSL and TFTP) seems to decompress OK and then a few moments later I get the error below. It tries twice, fails twice, then I get the Router(boot) Prompt without the feature pack loading. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I've attached information that may be helpful. There is a mention in show ver that indicates the router is having a problem with a motherboard interface but I get the same error on both routers which I find hard to beleive.

Are you sure that the IOS you're trying to boot will run on your currently configured memory?

I checked the software center and I'm assuming that you have the IP/IPX/AT/IBM feature sets on the 3 flash modules. Well, they require you to have at least 16MB of DRAM and 8MB of Flash on the 1601R.

Looking at your "sh ver", you only have 8MB of DRAM on board. Orlando Palomar Jr

Thanks, you confirmed what I suspected could be the culprit. I tried the 1600-R IOS and 1601-1604 IOS for both 12.0 and 11.3 with limited success.

Can you run a non-compressed image on an R series router and does it have any bearing on the physical DRAM needed?

Does anyone know if the 1600 accepts generic non-parity simms or does it require propritary modules?
