Hi All,

I've been trying to upgrade the IOS on a used 1601. When I logged into the router from the console I keep getting the following errors:

%QUICC_ETHER-1-LOSTCARR: Unit 0, lost carrier. Transceiver problem?

The boot up looks like the following:

Any ideas? Is it possible that the routers console config is not the standard 9600-n-1?

Thanks in advance,
steve

It seems to me that your Ethernet Interface is not configured properly. Check the IP Configuration on the interface. D you have a backup of the router config to refer to. See for any differences in the same.

Looks like a process early during the boot sequence sticks and is terminated. Who knows what the reprocussions are.

%SYS-3-CPUHOG: Task ran for 2248 msec (125/125), Process = Boot Load, PC = 4100806

Is it a 1600 w/ the removable flash card? You may try looking at the memory, boot rom and IOS for problems

I keep getting the same error:
%QUICC_ETHER-1-LOSTCARR: Unit 0, lost carrier. Transceiver problem?

My configuration is very simple even after resetting the configuration to (A new setup) i still get the same error.
How did you fix it?

Plug the router into a hub or switch or use a x-over and plug it into a NIC. That error will disappear.
If you do not plan on using the Ethernet interface for a connection, you can:
1) enter the command "no keepalive" under the interface. This will still allow you utilize an IP address on the interface. or,
2) "shut" the interface.
