Hello Friends

I have a windows XP laptop compaq Presario V3000.When i log in i get 16 bit windows popping an opens and opens multiple windows and the laptop is in chinies language.final screen says WOWEXEX.exe 0x02c6f581 and i dont know what is happening.thinking it could be a trojan I ran a virus scan and it says no virus discovered. Please help any ideas will be greately appreciated.

As per my earlier message the popoup says there is not enough memory in the system and system cannot work.

I think wowexex.exe is a valid process of the 16 bit window. Could be a memory leak but no idea how to fix. Sorry cant be more helpful.

Here is a brute force way.

1) Kill the wow process
2) Find wowexex.exe, rename it to wowexexskip.exe
3) Restart your system and see what complains.

Alternatively, use process explorer (free download from MS website) and see what starts it. It is similar to task manager but it has a tree view of which process started which one.

Do you see this behavior from Safe Mode, or from Normal Mode, but as another user?

Is your machine running a Chinese version of XP, or is it only this pop-up that appears to be in Chinese?
