We are basically large Avaya/Nortel BCM shop ( over 80 systems ) and are carefully looking at the IPO v7, so please be gentle !

Question :

Once the Nortel 1220 IP phone been converted to SIP client on the IPO v7 , would it be feasible that it still retains its 'partial DHCP' option where we can manually enter the SIP/gateway server which used to be denoted as S1, S2 field under the Unistim firmware ?

Also where would you enter the IP extension info or you HAVE to use the TFTP configuration files ?

We have lots of these models under Nortel BCM50, 400, 450 and are planning to migrate them over IPO v7 . Changing DHCP with different vendor options is not a viable as NT servers with DHCP services are not in our control.

You can manually configure the proxy address if you wish. You do need some configuration files for the phone to download, and if you plan on having user programmable buttons the phone has to point to the IPO for TFTP, and the memory card has to be used as the file server. Its been a while but I believe you can hardcode the provisioning (TFTP) server address in the phone also. The extension info is based off the login name/password used when the phone connects to the IPO.

Those are bad phones and work even worse on the IP office, sorry but it's true, the T and M series digital phones work great though :)

No arguments there. They work well on a Nortel platform but are a bit lackluster on IPO. I heard through the grapevine that they may become a bit better in IPO R8.

You can change the S value's
But i have to agree with Amriddle., they suck big time.
You can modify the 11xxsettings.txt file (this contains the S value's)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

1220's are very fragile indeed - Series 1,3 had bad internal fuses that keep blew out if you use the official power brick .Anyway we are stucked with thousands of them now . Thanks for the info and love to see if they can be improved on v8 .

If you sell an IP Office then sell the 9500 (digital) or 9600 (IP) with them.
Any other phone will have less features.
