Anybody have any luck coverting an 1140e to SIP? My TFTP server log keeps saying: "transmission failed. could not find file 1140e.cfg even though i built a .cfg file that has what i think is the required lines. thanks!

name it 1140e.cfg and put it in the root of the tftp....

#
# Config file: 1140E version 6

DOWNLOAD_MODE AUTO
VERSION (file name)
FILENAME (yourfile name.bin)
PROTOCOL TFTP
SERVER_IP xx.xx.xx.xx
SECURITY_MODE 0

Is that all that is needed? including the
#
# Config file: 1140E version 6
#
the docs talk about the provisioning file. do all those enrtries need to be added as well?

Have a look at the SIP 1100 Series Admin Guide which can be downloaded from support.avaya.com.

The first step is to use an 1140e.cfg file (which is what UNIStim uses) with the SIP software binary in it. This will cause the 1140E to load that software and then reboot.

Once the 1140E is running the SIP software, you will need an 1140eSIP.cfg file (which is what SIP uses) and the associated config files for SIP referenced in it.

yup, .bin flash only.

in the server_ip put your TFTP server IP and should be good to go....

i guess i am usure of the whole thing. see if this sounds right:
created a folder in which i have placed .bin files for unistim and SIP. i have also created a .txt file called 1104e.cfg which has the [DEVICE_CONFIG], [FW] , etc. My assumption all along was that these all belong in the same folder which is placed in the root of the TFTP server. you then adhjust your .cfg file [FW] to look for the correct firmware. am i off base?

[FW]
DOWNLOAD_MODE AUTO
VERSION SIP1140e03.02.16.00
SERVER_IP 192.168.1.1
PROTOCOL TFTP
FILENAME SIP1140e03.02.16.00.bin
PROMPT 0

make sure that there is no TXT on the end of your config file

so it does not read "SIP1140e03.02.16.00.cfg.txt"

make sure it only reads "SIP1140e03.02.16.00.cfg"

also on the TFTP software make sure you selected it as the root folder (with your bin and cfg files in it)

on the phone, in the menu change the TFTP (or provisioning server, i forget which) to point to your IP for the TFTP server.

also, i had it working with 3 only... not sure about 3.2... you might want to try a 3.0 if you can't get 3.2 working.

i am thinking now its my PC. i tried just updating the UNIStim version and that fails as well. if anyone has an example of a successful transfer i would sure like to see it.

Change to DOWNLOAD_MODE FORCED to override any comparison checks and force the software to load.

tried changing it to forced :

[FW]
DOWNLOAD_MODE FORCED
VERSION 0625C70
FILENAME 0625C70.bin

on your TFTP server log you will see three entries:

fails reading PRV file
Successful reading CFG
and BIN files....

that's all.....

just make sure you point the phone your PC (TFTP server). If you look at your TFTP server software does it show the phone attempting to DL the files?

Do you have a FIREWALL running on your PC?

i see the following on my TFTP server software:

TFTP connected from xx.xx.xx.xx:1024,binary,GET.Transmission failed. could not find file C:\1140E\system.prv

followed by:

TFTP connected from xx.xx.xx.xx:1025,binary,GET.Transmission failed. could not find file C:\1140E\1140e.cfg

firewalls are disabled.

it sounds to me like you don't have the TFTP software pointing to the folder where the files are in..... go into the configuration of the TFTP (i use 3CServer)

FILE, the CONFIG, then TFTP tab, then UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD Directory (here select the one your files are in)
