Hi

I have a strange issue at a site which uses only 1120e IP Phones on a CS1000S.

Problem is where user tries to log into Call Pilot and enters mailbox number e.g. 1234 after pressing for example 1 the phone will continue to beep for upto 5 seconds, instead of a short beep whilst the key is pressed. The result is that the digits pressed sometimes are not recognised and you get invalid mailbox/password from Call Pilot.

This is completely random, it happens on all phones but could be during entering mailbox number or passsword. It could be the any of the digits dialled.

System details

CS1000 S 4.5 - Deplist v 2
SS 4.50.88 - Latest Deplist
VGMC - Latest Deplist
IP Phone Firmware - 0624C3C (latest)
Call Pilot 201i - SU 3

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try the C4B firmware for the phones, it was released in June.

Cheers,

Killian

A dumb question. Have you tried setting up a call from one set to another and then pressing the keys and listening to the DTMF?

I ask this because I once had a user who complained of something very similar happening. She claimed it was a system problem and I racked my brain for days trying to track it down. It turns out that it DID happen on multiple phones, but the commonality was that SHE rotated through those phones and had spilled coffee/orange juice/coke/whathaveyou on each and every one of them and the buttons were sticky. Simply wiping the phone just removed teh residue from the surface, but the rubberised keypad thingy underneath was very ugly.

Check the phones for free movement of the keys. Maybe you have my old user, or perhaps a bad batch of phones.

Hi

Thanks for replies.

I have loaded the new C4B firmware today and seems alot better, but not perfect.

I also changed config in LD 15 > FTR DATA.

I changed EEST to NO. So that now when keys are pressed, there is no beep or tone. So no more 5 second beeps for 1 key press.

This way customer doesn't suspect that something is not right, as there is no long tone.

Thats just hiding the problem, not fixing it.

You have a point, BUT i am 100% certain this tone is not a configuration issue, as there is no patern. Given that this system has all the latest patches and updates then why should i get complaints.

Do you have any better suggestions?
