Hi Folks,

I purchased 2 - 1120e's and 2 - 1140e sets to add to a BCM50. I'd like to reset these stations to factory default and eliminate all settings from previous owners.

Surely there's a simple reset process that can be applied on startup.. No?

I read the procedure for factory reset using the MAC address etc. I'm thinking there must be a full reset similar to the reset on an Avaya 9608...

Any help appreciated..

Cheers, Alan

From Wikipedia: The method to factory reset the phone is: **73639[MAC]## – where [MAC] is the MAC address of the phone using the 2 key for A/B/C and the 3 key for D/E/F. You can also think of it as **RENEW[MAC]##. You can enter this at any time once the IP Phone is powered up.

Hello exsmogger,

Thanks for taking the time. As mentioned I read the reset method using **RENEW[MAC]##, I was hoping for a nice simple method which could be applied on startup of the station.

It appears holding the "UP" arrow, and the #"2" on startup offers some type of menu or option.. I'm just not certain of what or which options will be offered...

Thanks much,

Alan

Hi GordonKapesMZ4

Well I gave it a try. I was trying to save a few bucks for a non profit so, rather than buy refurb from my regular supplier, I grabbed a couple from eBay. I'll perform the full reset on Monday while on site.

I've already spent far more time than the difference in price...

No good deed goes unpunished.

Cheers, Alan

Hi Alan,

I've bought numerous i2xxx, 11xx and 12xx phones on ebay and they have all come in varied conditions, and I've been able to get all of them working with my BCM and UCx Emetrotel switch. Let me know if you are successful doing the factory reset when you try it.

GordonKapesMZ4,

I managed to get the 1140e with sidecar operational.

RE:1120e- when can I enter the reset command? If your hit the softkeys in order 1-2-3-4 it provides a simple menu.
If you let it boot all the way, it asks to login the previous owner... It does try to log in the previous owner using a PW of 1234.

However, it won't accept any standard PW's anyplace that I can find so far...

Where and when can I enter the reset PW?

Thanks in advance... Alan

When resetting the phone using the MAC address you'll get no indication of keypad input. When done in the correct sequence you'll see the phone reboot. That's the only indication that the reset code has been accepted. I usually wait until the phone has booted up, but the instructions say you can enter the reset code anytime after the phone has been powered up. Good luck.

Hello exsmogger,

Oh I've tried several times... I'm following the directions

1- **73639 - MAC ADDRESS - ##

Where one can not see what one is entering, how does one enter the alpha characters? Just use the numeric key corresponding to the alpha no matter wether it is AB or C, simply use the 2 key?

The problem is that the phone boots to a "user login" screen. Do you think it should accept the reset right from that screen?

I'll try again now that I know there is no indication of input.

Thanks again, I truly appreciate the efforts to help!

It does not work.

You hit the "login page" try the reset and it simply fills the reset code into the "login name field".

Truly and completely stuck..

Hi Brian,

Oh, this has gone past common sense.. it's become a day eating mission..

My supplier says he can reset it for $50. How's he going to do it? Pretty whacky.

Cheers, Alan

As the previous answers have said, this is all I could find below.

Restore to Factory Default (applies to IP Phone 2007, 1110, 1120E, 1140E, 1150E, 1210, 1220 and 1230)

The UNIStim firmware release 3.0 for IP Phones introduces the ability to restore an IP Phone to a 'factory default' configuration. This can be useful when redeploying an IP Phone from one location to another, when starting to use an IP Phone with unknown history, or to reset to a known baseline configuration.

With UNIStim firmware release 3.0, the following keypad sequence is used to reset all provisioning parameters to a 'factory default':
[*][*][7][3][6][3][9][MAC][#][#]
Where MAC corresponds to the MAC address of the IP Phone which can be found on a label on the back of the IP Phone.

Since a MAC address can contain the letters A through F, the letters A, B and C can be entered via the [2] key on the dialpad, and letters D, E and F can be entered via the [3] key.

For example, an IP Phone with MAC address 00:19:E1:E2:17:12 would be reset to 'factory default' when the sequence **73639001931321712## is entered on the keypad.

Unfortunately there is no mechanism to reset Phase 2 sets to the factory default

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I have used this procedure on 1140 sets with no issues at all.

It's a phone system, NOT a clock!
