1. Installed Queryman and TeraData ODBC Driver.
2. Defined a Data Source. Entered a Data Source name and description. For the TeraData Server Info I entered an IP address. I left the box checked for "Do not resolve alias name".
The database is in Maryland and I'm in North Carolina.
I am behind a firewall at work. I also tested at home were I'm using a wireless router and Zone Alarm.
In both cases when trying to connect I get the same error.

11001 WSA E Host_not_found: Your name server is down or you need to add to add the TeraData system to your HOSTS file.

My support in Maryland says it's probably the firewall.

Can anyone help.

thanks,
blues

Hi,
Go look at the Alerts and Logs in the Zone alarm control Center.

Check to see if any of your incoming or out going packets to the Teradata system are being blocked.

If they are click right on that alter and add the IP address to the Trusted List.

Also if your Teradata Instance is running behind Zone Alarm you may have to allow its programs

GtwGateway
Cnscim

and the like to access the Local intranet and the Internet in Server mode.

If there aren't any alerts then it isn't your Zone alarm fire wall.

tdatgod,
didn't find anything blocked in ZoneAlarm. I turned off ZA and I get the same errors. I'm also using a DLINK wireless router. Still need help.

thanks

Are you certain that your hosts file is properly configured?

It sounds to me like the error message is pointing you to the hosts file to resolve the problem.

I won't ask you to post the IP address and/or your hosts file for obvious reasons though ;-)
