Hey,

I'm trying to print a newsletter. In my 3 page document I want the first page to print on the right side of the first sheet of paper so it'll be in the "cover" spot when I fold the newsletter - pages 2 and 3 will be on the inside (they print fine). It keeps printing on the left side. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Billy

There is no such thing as a 3-page document on a tabloid sheet...

4,1 [side 1]
2,3 [side 2]

Your page 4 may be blank but it should be defined as a page so that imposition can be performed.

Unless your printer driver does impositions or you have set up your document on a tabloid sheet, you will need some sort of imposition software. Consider InBooklet from ALAP.com

Thanks - I am trying the "add a fourth page thing". I meant before that there are only 3 pages to my document - but I think you understood that.

Do I need to specify when I print one side page range:4,1 ?

Unless you have an imposition script (free from or the ALAP InBooklet plugin (functional demo from you will need to take your current 3 page document and turn it into a 2 page, landscape tabloid page. Drag a vertical guide line to the center of the sheet to define where it will fold.

Jimoblak - what is the name of the script and is there one for the Mac CS version of ID?

If your copy if ID# came with the Pagemaker plugin pack, you have Inbooklet SE. If you haven't done so, install the plugin pack. Inbooket will show up at the bottom of your ID File menu.

If you want to get this job done right now, just create a new ID document. Select Tabloid as the paper size and Landscape as the orientation. Select 2 columns. If you're using the standard ID 1/2 in margins, set your gutter width to 1 inch. If your printer does not print duplex, there's no need to make more than 1 page in the doce. Instead make 2 of the same doc. Save the first and then Save As. You;ll have two of the same.

Now, just select everything on page 1 and paste it into the RIGHT column in your doc.

Open the second doc. Copy everything on P2 and paste it into the LEFT column. Copy all of P3 and paste it into the Right column.

Print the first doc. Reinsert the paper (get your orientation right - depends on the printer) and print the second doc. You'll now have it ready for folding.

If you want you can make the doc 2 pages - just only print P1 on the first print order, then reinsert the paper and print P2.

If you have duplexing on your printer, make the 11 X 17 landscape doc 2 pages - using the same gutter as I said earlier. Copy all of P1 into the Right column of P1. Copy and paste all of P2 into the left column of P2. Copy and paste all of P3 into the Right column of P2. Print with duplexing selected.
