I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous, and I have already told the people asking that its not possible (to my knowledge) on a meridian 1.

There is a request to have 11 digit dialing even for internal dialing that never touches NARS/BARS. I know it can be done from switch to switch, but not within your own switch. If you can confirm my findings let me know, if you think/know it can be done let me know.

Thanks

As long as it does not conflict with an existing number on your switch, have you tried programming a phone with an 11 digit DN?

even with pkg 150 dnxp, it is 4-7 digits. That request is out there.

I guess the big question is why? Who would want to try and remember an 11 digit extension?

Well the question as to why, can be answered if you have been in the military or work with them. Sometimes they get an idea from someone who knows nothing about telecommunications and tries to enforce it. Secondly I had the same thought because of pkg 150 dnxp, thats why I don't even think that this is possible.

If they are attempting to make the dialing appear to be the same as the "outside world" then yes, it would be possible, but not without BARS/NARS or at least CDP.
Of course the outside world typically has maximum 10-digit dialing for local calls.

Unfortunately that’s not the case they want two people whose exts are programmed on the same switch to dial 1-XXX-XXX-XXXX.
