I have found that my C & D drives have 1000's of random tiny files on them. This causes Windows Explorer to almost crawl to a halt. These files show up on the root of C & D. C had about 20,000 files which I went through a few thousand at a time and deleted.
D takes about 30 minutes to refresh on WE and says I have 300,000 objects only a few 1000 of which I actually want. WE craps out everytime I try to do anything on D.
I tried to use the command prompt, but a DIR shows only regular files and folders.
The files appear to be random and are 1-3 KB is size and do not have a modified date:
1X211A8.GPK
1XQBF470.K6S
I think I know why they showed up, I use a program to erase all empty space nightly, and I had to stop it mid-flow. However, I can't figure out how to get rid of the files on D?
