100 tiff pictures embeded in .indd (390MB) same as 8 MB printed to pdf?
I have 100 tiff pictures, color and greyscale, embeded in one file. File have 437 MB, but, when printing to pdf is finished, odf have only 8 MB!!! How can it be posiible? I don't use compression,(as I know) when set pdf printing, download all data, let Indesign determine colors etc. Is it normal?

It might be normal but I am not familiar with recklessly embedding so many images so I would not dare to guess.

You have other problems to worry about if you are working with a 390 MB file due to embedded images. Consider a different workflow. The larger the file, the more you'll hate yourself when it corrupts and loses all of your work.

What is the result if you simply use the prebuilt Press quailty pdf export in Indesign? If this thing is for print you're going to want that quality or X-1A.

If it's meant for screen display see waht the screen quality pdf export from Indesign gives you.

Yes, jimoblack, thank you,
you are completely right with advice to consider a diff workflow. But, unfortunately, it is for printing, and printers are 60 miles away from my office (no consultancy). They always have complaints to my job, because they want to do what I do, prepare doc for printing. So I usually send them every possible version of my work: eg, file with embeded pics, file without embeded pics, file with color pages extracted, etc. Printing companies have their own workers and want to find jobs for them, but taking it from me, and editors who give me job don't want to give it to them. Ok, never mind, thank you again.
