Does anyone know the color code wiring sequence for a 100 pair underground direct buriel feed that I can use to punch down this cable for a customer?

you start with white/blue,white/orange,white/green,
white/brown,white/slate,then do the same with the red,
black, yellow, violet.meaning the tip side is white, red, black,
yellow, violet.then the ring side is blue, orange, green,
brown,slate.

Generally an Outside feed hooks up to an protector that has a fusible cable and they are spliced together in a splice box or an approved enclosure. If you are just punching the cable down on a 66 block you are not doing it right.

What I don't understand is how a Customer hired YOU, and you don't even know the most basic part of wiring - the color code.

... And that would continue for each of the remaining binders in sequence. You need to follow the NEC requirements for cables going between buildings. Protectors are required on both ends. There is a liability when you don't follow NEC and there is an accident or injury.

The 100 pair will be in 4 groups of 25 pair each. BLUE, ORANGE, GREEN, and BROWN each of those terminate like STRMWALKER says. If this cable is GELL filled you will need a splice case to transform it to AIR filled at the MDF. Gell filled is a Fire Hazard.

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS AND AVAYA

I wouldn't want my name on a job that wasn't bonded or grounded correctly. Reasons like lack of bonding and grounding people are told not to use the phone during storms. its amazing how powerful lightening can be.
Proper bonding and grounding save lives PERIOD. If you don't know how, don't do it.

Thak you to the ones that have given me "constructive" advise.

One other note on this site. I have been in many com rooms that are a real mess a lot of old work over old work etc. This is a 50 year old installation with layers of old cabling. Everything works but the customer wants all this old work cleaned up. What is your feelings about digging into such a mess. I am concerned that it will cascade into a lot of problmes throughout the building once I start cleaning up everyting.

Is it just best to leave it as is?

Careful planning is one of the best ways to tackle a project like that. Those types of projects don't happen over night or in a week... You will probably need to create lots of documentation along the way.

Over 50 years might bring in the A word Asbestos. This will require a professional cleanup crew. I started one and had to stop because of this. The company elected to seal the old wire and not touch it.

This is just exposed cross connect wire layered over the top of each other on a lot of 66 blocks in a 60 room hotel this is not I/W in the building just in the com closet. It is a matter of D/C the old unused service just in the closet no place else. But it is a real "horror story of wires" as I like to call it.

first I would remove the dead jumpers. before you remove them check with a volt ohm meter. If they are open they are not being used. That usually cleans up half the mess.
