I work for a small company and we've been running MAS 90 (mirrored Novell servers) for approx. 10 years. Yesterday, everything crashed! We dropped off the novell servers at a data recovery company and they called today and said that we had a full system crash. They are trying to recover "90 to 95 percent" of the data, but they said that we'll have to find somebody that runs our version of MAS 90 who will have to load and print out all the data (obviously, everything that the data recovery company extracts is encrypted). Anybody have any ideas? I'm the Sales Manager and am freaking out because we have no access to our open order reports, inventory, etc. Please help. Thanks!

Would you happen to know the level of MAS90 you were on? 3.40? 3.60? 3.70? Your best resolution would be to find a copy, re-install and then recreate the company codes. Once you have done that you can copy over the data files and your back in business. The data folders are the ones with the company codes. For example the AR folder holds the programs ARABC folder holds the data. All you need are the XXYYY folders were XX = the module and YYY = the company code.

It is extrememly important to know the version of MAS you were on.

Also don't try to be cheap on this. It may cost you some money to get a good reseller to help you on this and you will need a good reseller to help on this.

What part of the country are you in?

Thanks for the response. We were running 3.1 from 1996. I'm in Southern California (San Clemente). Does the version change the course of action? Any tips or contacts?

Thanks again!

It is going to be difficult if not impossible to find someone with v3.10. Your best and probably only action would be to find someone with v3.20 disk. Do the install and then convert the data. You might try a master developer from SoCal, DSD at Good as place as any to start.

Like I said, better be ready to get out the check book. I understand what needs to be done. The problem is finding the program disk from that period to read your data and then convert it to the most recent.

BigLouie......will the 3.20 disk/software allow us to load 3.10 info? Any idea?

Again, thanks for your support!

Yes it will. If you can get your data folders back you can install v3.20, enter in your unlocking keys, put the v3.10 data folders in place and then upgrade. I would still suggest a reseller assist.

Can I ask why you have not attempted to upgrade in 10 years?

Small company.........technology based......dollars have been tight (and when they are not....the money gets taken out of the company by ownership).

Thanks for all your help.

What happened to the backup tapes? Can't you just restore your data from those?
