Hi

Facing an issue with DID Pri trunks where the customer PSTN service provider can only pass 10 digits as incoming digits or number in the system and depending on the number it needs to be routed to specific extensions.
I changed the public received number length under dial plan public network menu to 10 digits.
Also tried both DID and PBX template.
Is there a way we can have 10 digit incoming number mapped to a 4 digit extn?

GOT IT!!! Destination code conflicts with the incoming digit entry in public network.

Hey but if anybody knows any way out to do 10 Digit DNIS to configure on BCM such a way that I can delete first 6 digit and only pass last 4 digit to BCM.Can I do that.It will be much easier programming if that is an option?
Second thing is can I avoid that Destination code conflicts because I may need destination code and incoming 10 digits entry to be same?
Also can I will able to do 10 digit DNIS from carrier with DID template

Are you saying the Vendor can only send 10 digits and not 4?

I've never heard of such a thing.

Yes Verizon sending only 10 digits with NI2 protocol

I have never heard of a phone company not being able to send less then 10 digits, What country is this switch in?

I know you said Verizon

Are you certain that they didn't say they needed 10 digits outgoing? Like most of the people above, I have never heard of not being able to ask for less than 10 receive digits.

NARSBARS

Certain C.O'S that have Siemens switches are not capable of outpulsing less than 10 digits (or their are no techs who know how to do it on the Siemens).

There is an Adtran solution that sits in between the circuit and the PBX that can strip the digits if you have to go that route....

Wash, rinse, repeat.

This is in United States provider tech says they cannot provide 4 digits on NI2 and thats strange.
Well i did found out something - I am able to assign 10 digit mapping on the public DN only is the starting digit of this 10 digit number does not matches the destination code in the routing.
This is more strange as destination code is for outgoing and Dnis is for incomming.

Isnt it that absorb length is for outgoing calls only. Well i will try this out.
thanks for suggestions

I have 5 BCM's with NI2 and I only rec 4 digits, so I think your Vendor doesn't understand what you want or you don't.

You don't match incoming digits with Destination codes. The only place I have seen where you have to put 10 digits is on the Set Public OLI and that is for out going.

I have Verizon and they are sending us 4 digit NI2.
Granted they are running thorough a DMS 100 or 200 (don't remember which)
I am in SoCal.
You can install equipment between the BCM and the PRI (as stated above) that will strip the digits for you, but you would still need to program the translations in that device.
It seems incomprehensible that you cannot get four digit DNIS though

Ten digits sent by the CO is normal, and is not a problem.
When you program the received digit length on a Norstar or BCM, (for example a received digit length of 4), that determins how many of the incomming digits the system will look at, starting from the end and counting back. For example, if the sent digits are 444 567-1234, a received digit length of 4 would use the digits 1234, while a received digit length of 6 would use the digits 671234.
I never recommend using a received digit length of 4, as often conflicts can result. For example the main number may be 456-7890 and the Fax number may be 462-7890, resulting in a conflict with 7890 if ony 4 digits are used as received. For this reason, I recommend 5, 6, or 7 digit received number lengths be used.
