I've been working with CS1000's, 81c's for 11 years now but am new to 1010 cabinets. Could someone give me a quick rundown on them and how they are survivable.

Thank you

I'm assuming you are talking about Geographic Redundancy with a Survivable Media Gateway. They basically are in standby mode and they go active when the Media Gateway, or MGC card can no longer communicate with the Primary Call Server. Then that MGC card in that cabibnet will register to that Call Server and be able to run there for 90 days. Your other Media Gateways can register to it also. They have different software packages in the Primary vs the Alternate CS. The database is replicated to the SMG based on a schedule. The 1010 Cabinet is kind of an oddball, you can do SMG with a chassis or cabinet also.

So, do they act as sig servers as well? All phones are either VoIP or analog. Some of the cabinets have PRI gateways with at least one T-1.

What type of set up do you have regarding survivability?
The 1010 can utilize a number of different processor cards with differing capabilities.
Cetainly a sig server can be installed but it would be helpful if you explained the architecture of your system.

I'm still trying to figure it out and understand the setup. I haven't been able to talk to the vendor who did the install yet.

Yes, they can act as a Signal Server also. Your SMG and the Primary site have the exact same database in them but they do have different Node configurations and IP assignments.

So if the mg1010 loses connectivity with the Call Server, can the VoIP phones register to the 1010? I can't tell, but it doesn't appear that sig servers are on the 1010's. In the UCM it shows they all have Element Manager on them but no sig servers show.

Yes, that is what an SMG does. There needs to be sig servers in each node including the SMG.

Just for clarification sake: the MG1010 is just a cabinet. It's a shell - just like an MG1000E chassis or cabinet. It's not synonymous with survivability. The survivability has everything to do with what servers, cards, software and licenses are installed.
